Member Highlight- Melissa Ledoux

Melissa has been a life long member of ours, 10 years to be exact!  Over that time she has increased her health and quality of life and we are so proud of her constant progress!  Meet Melissa!
Q: What brought you in to CrossFit EXP?
First of all, I feel so honored that I have been chosen for this!  I started here so long ago!  What first brought me in was to spend a few months getting in shape.  I had been a long-time runner (believe it or not) and my knees were beginning to bother me.  I was looking for an activity that I could do, that would reduce my running but still give me a great workout.
Q: What was your first impression of CrossFit EXP?
My very first impression?!  Everyone was so friendly and encouraging, right from day 1!  It was and is still a place to go and push yourself in a safe and judgement free place.
Q: Why did you or what made you stay at CF EXP?
The people.  Coaches and members that I look forward to seeing every day!  The sense of community, positivity, and the support.
Q: What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of during your time at CF EXP?
Oh, my goodness, just one!?  I guess I am most proud of being able to do pull ups.  When I first started there were a lot of jumping ones that kicked my butt!  Then the bands, then finally I could do kipping pullups!  I have had setbacks along the way, elbow surgery and shoulder surgery that have sidelined me at times, but I am back at them!
Q: What will you do next?
My goals have changed as I get older.  I enjoy swimming and biking in addition to CrossFit and I find it a good compliment.  I want to be able to do this for as long as possible, so I listen to my body but always try to challenge myself.  The coaches are great with that too!  Always willing to find a new way to challenge you if you need a modification.
Q: What advice would you give someone who is interested in starting CrossFit?
I would tell them they should just jump in and try it!  It may not be easy when starting out, but it gets better and better the more you go, and you never, ever will be judged.  The next thing you know, 10 years flies by!
