Today's workout in honor of a great cause- WOD for Dogs!
WOD for Dogs is a national workout to raise money for improving the lives of homeless dogs. Wallace the Pit Bull Foundation is partnering with gyms and rescue organizations across the country in order to raise money, educate, and encourage the adoption of amazing dogs waiting for a home to call their own. The Wallace the Pit Bull Foundation promotes programs that make an impact on the big picture. WTPB Foundation will first be donating to New Mexico Pets Alive! If we can reach our $20K goal, we will be able to make a second donation to Safe Humane Chicago! Please help make this happen by donating and sharing this link! You can also make cash donations today at CrossFit EXP! We're excited for the positive impact this will have on homeless dogs everywhere, and greatly appreciate your support!
Roo Yori, is the creator of WOD (Workout Of the Day) for Dogs in honor of his dog Wallace the Pit Bull. Wallace was a shelter dog that Yori adopted in 2005. They discovered he loved chasing Frisbees, and went on to become the 2006 Cynosport World Champions and 2007 Purina Incredible Dog Challenge National Champions in the sport of Canine Flying Disc. Wallace's life is a true underdog story in every sense. Wallace was faced with obstacle after obstacle, and each time he took on the challenges to rise above them all. He has inspired people all over the globe, and is proof that we shouldn't judge a dog by what they look like or where they may have come from. He is also proof that there are some amazing dogs waiting in shelters across the country for their chance to shine.
On August 23, 2013 Wallace passed after a long and valiant fight from 2 different terminal cancers. Yori has set up Wallace the Pit Bull Foundation to help other dogs like him in his honor. WOD for Dogs is a fundraiser to benefit Wallace the Pit bull Foundation. They are working toward opening our own facility to be able to help dogs first hand. In addition, they support other programs across the country that work hard to improve the lives of shelter dogs. An example is that in 2013, through the WOD for Dog fundraiser, they were able to donate $5,000 to New Mexico Pets Alive for fencing materials. This allowed them to have play yards to implement the Playing for Life playgroup program. Wallace the Pit bull Foundation has the opportunity to help a lot of dogs through our efforts, so I invite you to get on board and help this get bigger and better each and every year!
