Q: What brought you in to crossfit?
I was feeling out of shape, couldn’t seem to motivate myself, and I knew I needed to make a change. Running used to be a big part of my life, and I was looking for something to help get me back into exercise. I saw an advertisement on Facebook for the 6 week EXP Bootcamp, so I took a chance and never looked back.
Q: What was your first impression of CrossFit EXP?
It was a little overwhelming at first, in regards to the workouts, but everyone was so helpful and the coaches did a great job modifying the workouts to my comfort level.
Q: Why did you or what made you stay at CF EXP?
The coaches are absolutely AMAZING! The support and encouragement from this great community made me feel like I belonged. I started to have more energy, felt stronger and became more confident. When I first started, I struggled with even modifications, but the more I showed up, the stronger I got. I have developed great friendships, and I’m not going to lie, the proximity to Roots is a huge plus!
Q: What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of during your time at CF EXP?
I don’t even know where to start. I am so proud of myself for just walking through the door my first day at EXP. I’m really proud of all my accomplishments (big or small), so choosing one is almost impossible. If I had to choose one today, I would say competing in my first Crossfit Open is a pretty big one for me.
Q: What will you do next?
Not sure. Maybe sky diving or a 5k? I’ll definitely keep working on my toes-to-bar, and of course, going to Roots with friends after class.
Q: What advice would you give someone?
You don’t need to be “FIT” to start crossfit. Never compare yourself to others, or be discouraged by what others are able to do. You will make amazing progress just by showing up consistently, doing your best, and always remember to have fun! And, after class we can walk next door together for a smoothie 😉
