Q: What brought you in to CrossFit EXP?
I had recently moved to Leominster and changed jobs. I was in search for a new box. After extensive research and asking around the CrossFit community I was Pointed in the direction of EXP.
Q: What was your first impression of CrossFit EXP?
The community was so welcoming! Coach Pete was the first person I met and he immediately made me feel at home. Leaving one gym to go to another is a big deal and having someone there that was so positive right off the bat was huge. Everyone in the 5:15 AM came up, introduced themselves and were super helpful in showing me where everything was. I felt like I was accepted in to the group.
Q: Why did you or what made you stay at CF EXP?
The community and the coaches are what made me stay. There’s a constant push to better yourself. It becomes infectious. I have just as much fun watching other folks in the class hit a PR as I do hitting one myself.
Q: What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of during your time at CF EXP?
There’s so many, however if I’m forced to pick just one I’d have to say running a sub 7 minute mile when we did the running test’s recently. As a former 335 Lb man I never dreamed of even running a continuous mile let alone sub 7 minutes.
Q: What will you do next?
As far as fitness goes, I’m going to take my L1 certification May 8th and 9th. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time and I’m pumped I’m finally taking that step. I look forward to seeing where it can take me.
On a personal level, my wife and I are expecting our first child on June 21st. I’m both excited and nervous to become a dad, but I know I’m up to the challenge and I look forward to introducing her to our community. (I figure she’ll have her first muscle up by 3 or 4 😉)
Q: What advice would you give someone who is interested in starting CrossFit?
Just walk in the door. Everything after that is fun. Don’t try to compare your progress to others, your journey is yours alone.
