Lauren (“L1”) will be participating in the Susan G Komen 3 day walk in Boston for the second year in a row in just a couple weeks, July 26-28th. The Carchidi family holds a special place in our heart here at CrossFit EXP. We would love nothing more than to give back in any way we can to support cancer research. Read Lauren’s letter below and if you would like to donate, you can head over to her online site.
“Last year I participated in my first ever Susan G Komen 3-Day walk. It was without a doubt one of the best decisions I have ever made! I met so many strong people and heard so many inspiring stories that stuck with me throughout the past year. The outpouring of support I received for last year’s walk was incredible. I am so greatful for the friends, family and complete strangers who donated and allowed me to walk. Those are some of the last happy, healthy memories I have with my mom and because of that this event will always be special to me. While she will not be there waiting at the finish line this year, I know she will be with me every step of the way !
One of the reasons I feel so compelled to continue to participate in this walk and raise money for breast cancer is because it can help prevent other people from battling cancer like my mom did. If by walking 60 miles I can save one family from going through what mine went through, it is well worth it! Of course, I also feel like any event that requires me to wear PINK for a whole weekend was just made for me! Oh and it gives me an excuse to dye my hair pink, but that’s beside the point 🙂
My goal this year is to again raise $2300(or more!)to aid in the fight against cancer. The Susan G Komen foundation and events like the 3-Day have made breast cancer SO CLOSE to curable, and I hope that soon it will be that way for cancer in general. Thank you so much for making this possible for me! I would not be able to do it without the support of the most amazing family&friends!”
xoxo Lauren
