We all have imbalances, weaknesses or “issues” with our body.  Maybe you have tight shoulders, hips, knees, low back issues, weak abs, tight ankles or wrists.  The only way to avoid or address overuse injuries in any of these areas is to find the issue/s causing them and fix it.  To determine your individual imbalance or weakness you have to ask yourself what is tight on your body and what movements you have a hard time with? Often times at the studio we talk about FitCamp being like an adult playground. For many of us it’s been many years since we did a handstand or swung on a bar. For many children that kind of play is second nature, we take them to the playground and they instinctively know what to do. That kind of play is so valuable to our children’ s physical development and they don’t even consider it exercise but we all know very well that it is indeed exercise. Many children are in team sports or spend time playing on the Wii, which is great, but why not simplify things and challenge them to a workout at the playground before it gets too cold.  See how many knees to elbows they can do or how long they can hold an L-Sit, they will love it no matter who wins. Just wanted to share a message I received yesterday from Mike D. (one of our college FitCamper VIP’s!  Who will be back in class during winter break).  Welcome back Mike! “Hey there strangers! So, it’s almost Thanksgiving time and every year my family asks me what it is I’m thankful for.  Instead of sitting there thinking about it at the dinner table, I figured I’d get a head start.  Then I realized, what I’m thankful for the most is everything I experienced this summer.  What kid do you know gets to work out with top notch trainers all summer, and some pretty awesome people too?!  So this thanksgiving, thanks goes out to all the FitCampers!
