Q: What brought you in to CrossFit EXP?
Being in the worst shape of my life weighing almost 270 lbs I knew I needed to make a change in my lifestyle. My Uncle, BJ Meunier, had been going to EXP for almost a year at the time and seeing his incredible progression motivated me to give it a shot.
Q: What was your first impression of CrossFit EXP?
Going into a gym for the first time is a VERY intimidating thing, especially with the stigma of CrossFit being for more experienced athletes. I have never been so wrong in my entire life. From the moment I walked into EXP I was welcomed into the amazing community and with the help of the coaches felt like this would be a perfect fit for me.
Q: Why did you or what made you stay at CF EXP?
Every workout at EXP is a challenge, you have to give it your all every time you show up. The sense of accomplishment of completing the workout of the day is a feeling that can’t be replicated.
Q: What’s one accomplishment you’re proud of during your time at CF EXP?
In the little over 6 months that I have been with EXP I have accomplished exponentially more than I thought was possible. From barely being able to run a lap without collapsing to be able to run a mile without a problem. But for the accomplishment that I’m most proud of, it has to be my weight loss. I’ve lost over 65 lbs in my time at EXP and the lightest I have been since 7 th grade.
Q: What will you do next?
My next goal is getting my double unders more consistent. They have been my worst enemy for a while now and for the last couple of weeks and the weeks to come I’ve made it a point to no longer have double unders as a weak point of mine.
Q: What advice would you give someone who is interested in starting CrossFit?
Just show up and get through it. The workouts are tough, there will be times that you are going to be uncertain if you can finish. Let me tell you, with the help of the coaches and all of the great people in this community, you will be able to do much more than you can imagine. As long as you show up-good things will come!
