Dave D. forwarded me this pretty cool video yesterday and it gave me some great ideas for an upcoming FitCamp workout.  See how many of the moves we do in class you can pick out while watching the video, I came up with 6. TUESDAY:  8/31/10 1RM Clean & Jerk Workout:  Start with 1 Clean & Jerk (135/95) then complete 1 round of “Cindy” then 2 C&J’s then another round of “Cindy”, then 3 C&J’s all the way up to 10 C&J’s with 1 round of “Cindy” after each set.  30 min CAP. How do you track your success?  The average exerciser measures their fitness success using one of the mostemotionally draining tools on the planet, the scale.  If the number goes down there is a glimmer of hope that what you’re doing is working.  If the number goes up then watch out, self-sabotage is only days away.    I suggest you not be average.  Be above average.  In fact, be extraordinary and start doing what the most successful athletes and exercisers on the planet do.  Measure your results and success by looking at your performance.  Are you fitter today than you were 1 month ago, 6 months ago, 1 year?  Are you moving better, feeling better, performing better.  Can you squat lower to the ball.  Are pull-ups going from impossible to “this might just work”.  Are your numbers going up?  Max Deadlift, squat, push-ups, cleans, presses?  Have your Fran, Diane and Annie times decreased?   The scale has it’s place...

Everyone in BootCamp this morning kicked some serious butt (yes, you too Lori… :)). These two workouts were a blast to teach and everyone did such an amazing job with pushing hard and breaking through to new levels. “Death by Burpees” and “The 20/40 Mile” are two workouts you’ll remember for a while. Thanks for coming if you made it to class this morning! Jeff crushed the first workout taking the men’s “Death by Burpees” record completing 19 burpees. Erica took the women’s record finishing 14 burpees making them look easy.  (minus the convulsions, gasping and making funny facial expressions around minute 8).  (on a side note congrats Jared & Erica!  Hope everything went well today.) On Tuesday night a group of FitCampers met Nick and I for a different kind of workout, a 5 mile off-road trail run put on by the North Medford Running Club.  We had a great group of 12 of us run the race and a few had never run off-road or that distance in their life.  Congratulations to all those who made it, took on the challenge and crossed the finish line.   After the race was over it was high-fives all around and an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment and success for all.   For more info on upcoming NMC races check out their website at https://www.northmedfordclub.org/.
