Thursday 8.18.11 – Becca’s Story

Becca’s been an EXP member for less than 4 weeks. From the testimonial she sent in below we can say without a doubt that she’s drank the EXP Kool-aid. Thanks for sharing your story Becca and keep up the great work!
Becca’s Story:
Hi Dawn!
Sure I would love to give a testimonial!
Pretty much when I started looking into CrossFit EXP I was nervous about a few things. I had been attending ****** Fitness and was paying for something each month that I never used. I mean, I would go to the gym at the beginning, hop on the treadmill walk for a bit and leave. The first few times I went I would leave sweaty and sore the next day, but after a week or so I left feeling bored and uninterested. After a week or two my desire to go to the gym became less and less until I just completely stopped going. So when looking at EXP and seeing the price at 200 dollars a month, I really wasn’t sure if it was something that I wanted to do. What if I paid the money and just didn’t go at all? What if I hated it? What if I couldn’t do it? I was out of shape, overweight, and really self conscious about my workout routine. I tried my first class with Brian, and even just the way he looked intimidated me. I wasn’t strong like that. But, after about an hour or two conversation with Patrick (who told me that if I didn’t go he’d probably call me at home and ask me where I was) I went home and talked to my partner, and decided that I would put the money down and try out EXP. If it didn’t work for me, I wouldn’t continue after the month.
I’ve been there about three weeks now, and not only am I more confident in myself, I am more accountable to myself– so what if no one sees me stop running and start walking? I know that I won’t get better if I don’t push harder. Brian is actually one of my favorite coaches now, and Patrick and Nick often check up on my progress through facebook. They are people who always push me and celebrate my successes with me. And, while I am still not able to do a prescribed workout just yet, I look forward to the day that I can. And, I even just signed up for my first 5k (which I told Patrick I would sign up for 6 months after starting) and its in October so I signed up four months early. I enjoy going to the gym now, and I don’t feel as insecure about myself when I workout. In fact, the coaches are always looking for new ways to help you succeed, and are willing to work with you and push you. Oh yeah, and I leave EXP sweaty and energized every time now, and am often sore the next day which is something that for me shows that I really have been working my body, and not allowing it to get comfortable with what I am doing. I only wish I had tried CrossFit EXP sooner, instead of paying for something that I never even used. I’ve totally drank (and now make) my own EXP Kool-aid. 🙂
I really do love CrossFit EXP, and am so happy that I joined.
Have a great day Dawn!
